Meet Dandy

Born in Los Angeles and raised in Huntington Beach, Dandy discovered her passion for video and film after she and several friends appeared in Nirvana’s genre-defining “Smells Like Teen Spirit” music video. She went on to earn a degree in communications with an emphasis on film at California State University at Fullerton and later studied directing at the Los Angeles Film School.

While in LA, Dandy worked as a photographer, director, and set designer for various TV pilots and short films and as a set photographer for music videos for a number of notable artists, including Sean Lennon and Stevie Nicks. She established her own company, D14 Productions, which specialized in web commercials and music videos. Her video, “Contemporary America,” was short-listed for the highly competitive YouTube Play competition—sponsored by YouTube and the Guggenheim Museum in New York—recognizing “the most exceptional talent working in the ever-expanding realm of online video, attracting innovative, original, and surprising videos from around the world.”

An entrepreneur and champion of purpose-driven small businesses, Dandy later founded Live 2 Be Local to put a spotlight on sustainable enterprises across the United States. One of her videos was used by the “Just Label It!” campaign to promote the benefits of organic agriculture and advocate for the labeling of genetically modified food.

Today, Dandy splits her time between Northern California and Montana. In addition to creating visual branding and marketing content for small and mid-sized businesses, she operates a tourism-based business in California’s Wine Country.
